Barrel saunas look simple, but the sauna is only half the project. The other half is where it sits and how it gets power.

1. Pick the size by how you'll use it

2. Foundation

Barrels need a level, solid, well-drained base (concrete pad, pavers or a deck rated for the weight). Check the manufacturer's foundation guide before you order.

3. Power (or wood)

Electric heaters for outdoor saunas usually need a dedicated circuit run by an electrician; wood-burning heaters skip the wiring but need clearances and local approval. See how much power a sauna needs.

4. Delivery & assembly

Most arrive by freight, often curbside. Plan how the parts get to your yard and how many people/hours assembly takes.
